Statement of Purpose

This organization was formed for the purpose of performing and facilitating historical research and re-creations by creating a site which provides a medieval appearance while allowing modern conveniences

Activities

1. Create and maintain a site for historical re-creations.

While other organizations hold historical re-creations, few have built and maintained facilities where the arrangement of running water, parking lots, flush toilets, emergency telephone service, etc. allows maximum access with minimum disruption of the middle ages atmosphere. These other organizations usually rent parks and other facilities which were not set up with medieval re-creations in mind.

Kingdom Historical Trust, Inc. ("KHTI") intends to use the process of setting up the site as an aid to its historical research into the building and land use practices before 1600. KHTI is already investigating several pieces of land to find one appropriate to KHTI's purposes and budget.

Initial planned improvements include access roads, parking areas, a well and water distribution system and tree planting. Later improvements may include permanent sanitary facilities, spectator shelters/blinds and other historically accurate and appropriate permanent structures.

The creation of the site will facilitate not only the events sponsored by KHTI, but events sponsored by other historical research and re-creation groups because KHTI will rent the site, at cost, to other groups at times when KHTI is not holding its own events.

2. Sponsor medieval events open to the public.

For the past few years, the people now incorporated as the Kingdom Historical Trust, Inc. have held fund-raisers under the auspices of the West Kingdom branch of the Society for Creative Anachronism, Inc. ("Society") These fund-raisers have taken the form of medieval tournaments, auctions of re-creations of medieval items, contests and games. The income from these events were held in segregated accounts while KHTI amassed sufficient funds to purchase its site and make the initial improvements necessary to fulfill KHTI's purposes.

Kingdom Historical Trust, Inc. will continue to sponsor medieval re-creations, tournaments, contests and games at events throughout the year. It is within this format that all of our fund-raisers will be presented as well. We will also be engaged in providing to the public opportunities to display, examine, study and research the arts, sciences, games and contests of the period of history before 1600.

3. Publish and distribute a newsletter.

KHTI intends to publish and distribute a newsletter detailing events, games and contest which will be held at the KHTI site. The purposes behind this newsletter is to bring information and opportunity to the public to learn about and participate in pre-1600's games, contests arts and sciences.

All of these activities have been and will continue to be managed by volunteers from the general public who donate their time and money to KHTI.
